The talk will review trends, current conceptualizations, and clinical considerations in the evaluation and treatment of common conditions in health psychology, including chronic pain, disorders of the gut-brain interaction, and functional neurological disorder.

Meet the Presenter

About Victoria Kordovski, Ph.D

Victoria Kordovski, Ph.D.Dr. Kordovski is a clinical neuropsychologist who joined the Neuropsychological Assessment Program at SUNY Upstate Medical University in September 2022. Prior to joining the program, she completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences. She completed her APA-accredited internship at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System, which included major rotations in Geriatric Neuropsychology & Rehabilitation and Outpatient Neuropsychology. She earned a Ph.D. in clinical psychology with an emphasis in neuropsychology from the University of Houston. She also has a master's degree in psychology from the State University of New York, University at Buffalo.

Dr. Kordovski sees a broad range of adults with various neurological, medical, and psychiatric conditions. Her particular clinical interests include memory and aging, dementia, and functional neurological disorders, including psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES) and functional movement disorders. Her research interests also include the neuropsychology of everyday functioning and real-world outcomes (e.g., internet use and navigation), HIV disease, prospective memory, quality of life, and health literacy. Dr. Kordovski has also been involved in various leadership roles to support training in neuropsychology and previously served as the Liaison Officer for the Association for Neuropsychology Students & Trainees (part of APA's Society for Clinical Neuropsychology.)

About Garry Spink, Ph.D.

Garry Spink, Ph.D.Dr. Garry Spink is a psychologist who works with both Rochester Regional Health’s (RRH) psychology training program and within his own private practice. In his private practice, he focuses on mind-body disorders including chronic pain, Disorders of Gut-Brain Interaction (DGBI), and Functional Neurological Symptom Disorder (FND). Before these positions, he completed a one-year post-doctoral fellowship and his internship with the Rochester Institute of Technology Consortium in partnership RRH Behavioral Health Department. He also obtained his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Syracuse University.

Dr. Spink interest and expertise is in supporting, assessing, and treating people with mind-body disorders. He is on the Board of Directors for the New York State Pain Society and belongs to several professional groups including the Rome Foundation Psychogastroenterology Group, American Psychological Association (APA) Division 38 – Health Psychology (including the Pain SIG), and the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP).

  • The price for dinner and the talk is: $40 for CNYPA members, $50 for non-members and $20 for students and interns. The costs are partially subsidized by your membership dues.
