I am currently an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and the Director of Adolescent Medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University Norton College of Medicine and the Golisano Children’s Hospital. We have a consultation clinic serving health needs of adolescents from throughout our catchment area. I am board certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics, and joined the faculty at SUNY Upstate after completing an Adolescent Medicine fellowship at Golisano Children’s Hospital in 2013. In addition to caring for patients, I focus on education of the next generation of pediatricians and on research and writing. My publications concentrate on resident training in adolescent gynecology and include a recent publication on conscientious objecting to providing gender health care in a pediatric training context.
I have dual academic appointments, as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and am currently the Program Director of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. I have been on the faculty at SUNY Upstate since 2016 after completing both General Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at the same institution. I am board certified in Adult and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. Since joining the faculty, I have worked as a consultant child psychiatrist at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital, maintained an outpatient private practice clinic for sexual minority patients (working closely with Adolescent Medicine and Adult & Pediatric Urology services). I have also been part of the NY State Office of Mental Health Project TEACH program since 2016, which includes local and statewide lectures as part of intensive trainings in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry for primary care providers. Additionally, my professional interests include gender and sexual minority mental health, childhood depression & anxiety, multicultural issues, family systems, and pediatric consultation.
